Introduction to Songwriting course – June 2023!
Exciting news! We are opening a brand new course for singers: Introduction to Songwriting for Singers. This course will run online and in person at my studio in Auckland (North Shore area). If you live in Auckland, you are welcome to come to my studio to do the course in person, but if you are anywhere else in the world, you can still join online. And even if the time doesn’t suit you, you can receive the recording to do it when your schedule allows.
This course is aimed at people who enjoy singing and would like to have some tools to create their own songs.
It will run for five weeks, in person and online, and each week we will have an introduction to one aspect of songwriting. At the end of the course, you will have a song created by you. You will benefit not only from the material I give you and the practical help you get to bring your song to life but also from observing your classmates’ process of creating a song.
You will learn the absolute basics of lyric-writing, music harmony, melody and song structure, and we will workshop your songs together, so you walk out of the course with something to share!

The classes will run from 2-4 pm, at my studio in Unsworth Heights (North Shore, Auckland)
Can’t make it to any of the dates? No problem! You will receive the recording of the video, so you don’t miss out!
You will receive enough material for each element of songwriting to get you started, and some homework for you to do during the week so that at the end of the five weeks you have a song ready to sing!
And if you are super keen, you are very welcome to perform the song you created in our Winter Jam (date to be confirmed, but it will be in early July). We organize a Jam every season, free of charge, to offer the community a safe, friendly and non-judgemental space to share the joys of making music!

This will be an intensive course. However, we will start from the absolute basics for every component of songwriting. The material you get from this course will serve you for any song you want to write. The more you write, the more your ideas will flow!
