How To Keep Your Voice Hydrated And In Top-Shape When You Travel By Plane

Today, I want to talk about traveling and singing. Now, specifically, I’m talking about traveling by airplane. When you travel by airplane, you can get dehydrated quite a bit!

You probably know that hydration is extremely important as a singer. So that is something we must take care of when we travel.

Let me share with you my 5 tips on how to keep your voice hydrated when you travel by plane.

1. Seat selection

The first  tip to help you keep your voice hydrated when you travel by plane is: pick a seat, in the aisle!

This is going to allow you to go to the toilet as many times as you want which will come in handy to allow you to drink as much water as you need, but also is going to allow you to stretch your body when you need it, which also  contributes to a healthy and powerful voice.

2.Drinks to avoid

Second, avoid coffee and alcohol when you travel! Your voice is going to thank  you for it.

You are going to be offered coffee  and alcohol (assuming you are an adult), but   traveling by air already dehydrates you, so you don’t need to add dehydrating factors on top of that! Not a good idea.

3. Drinks to choose from in an airplane to keep your voice hydrated!

When the flight attendant offers you a drink, pick water!

4. Bring your refillable water bottle

My fourth tip to keep your voice hydrated while you travel by airplane is… Bring your water bottle with you! and refill it as many times as you can (this is when tip number 1 comes in handy!).  In most airlines, you can just go to the back of the plane and they will refill the water bottle for you. Don’t worry about asking for too much… They probably won’t see you again! And also you paid a lot of money for that trip… So I think they can give you a little bit of extra water!

5. My secret tool to keep my voice hydrated when I travel

I came across these effervescent tablets called ‘1 Above’. They are great for traveling. They keep you hydrated and they also help you to avoid that annoying jet lag!

Highly recommended; Jorgelina, the primary singing instructor knows her stuff and really helped guide me through finding my mixed voice.

She has huge amounts of knowledge on the science and theory behind singing and approaches lessons in a very structured but still personalised manner. Very happy with my decision to take lessons here.

I really struggled with the high notes before coming to Jorgelina! She's coached me through so many techniques and although there is so much to learn I feel like I've seen lots of progress already. My confidence has grown massively since joining the group classes too and she encourages performing at every opportunity. I love that Jorgelina takes a holistic approach to singing and understands that it's not just about sounding great, the voice also has strong connections to the body and mind. Thanks Jorgelina!

Bruh. Jorgelina is an awesome singing teacher! Super knowledgable, very engaged and 100% passionate. She's helped me a lot. Her methods and techniques feel organic and natural. She moves at your pace and is super supportive about you achieving your singing goals. Would recommend her to anyone with a vagus nerve (thats everyone btw!).
